With more than 30 years of experiece, Roberta stands as a reference performer in the world of Baroque and Renaissance music. Roberta’s unique approach to Baroque and Renaissance music is characterized by a profound respect for historical authenticity, combined with a vibrant and expressive performance style.

Today, Roberta’s contributions to the early music field extend beyond the stage. While she continues her glowing carieer she is also a respected educator, and is dedicated to influence and inspire new generations of singers and musicians, imparting her knowledge and passion for historically informed performance practices. Her workshops and masterclasses are highly sought after, providing invaluable insights into the nuances of Baroque and Renaissance vocal techniques. Currently Roberta is a Professor at Musik und Kunst University in Wien and Conservatorio L. Cherubini of Florence.

The story of a career

Born in Milan, Roberta began her musical journey as a pianist and double bass player before discovering her passion for singing and beginning her studies with Margaret Heyward.

With her rare blend of profound respect for the historically informed and an unfailing dramatic sense, Roberta quickly established herself a model for the interpretation of Renaissance and Baroque repertoire.

Throughout her career, Roberta has collaborated with some of the most esteemed early music ensembles and conductors. Her partnerships with ensembles Il Giardino Armonico, Europa Galante, Cappella della Pietà de’ Turchini, Concerto Italiano, Europa Galante, and La Risonanza have produced recordings that are now considered benchmarks in the field.

Her illustrious career includes leading roles in “Dido and Aeneas” at the Teatro Filarmonico in Verona and Teatro Regio Torino, “La Vergine Addolorata” by A. Scarlatti at the Baroque Festival of the Staatsoper Berlin, “Ercole sul Termodonte” by Vivaldi at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées in Paris, “Statira” by Cavalli at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples, “Olimpiade” by Galuppi at La Fenice, “L’Orfeo” by Monteverdi at La Scala with Rinaldo Alessandrini, and “Il Ritorno di Ulisse in Patria” at the Hamburg Elbphilharmonie with Fabio Biondi.

Her extensive discography is critically acclaimed and a treasure trove for early music enthusiasts. It counts more than 100 recordings, spanning works by Monteverdi, Vivaldi, Handel, and many others. Roberta’s talent especially shines in her interpretations of Haendel’s music, as she demonstrates across the whole Gramophone Award-winning series of recordings by Glossa of Handel’s chamber cantatas in Italian with Fabio Bonizzoni.
